I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve got 7 very successful and advanced freshwater set ups and I’ve just started with a saltwater nano tank. From what I’ve read it’s not that much harder in terms of care, but the knowledge is far different. My friend has a beautiful 150g saltwater tank so he’s helping me out.
The water parameters are different in terms of chemicals and levels you have to pay attention to, but the amount of work is basically the same.
Cycling is the same, fish cost so much more, but they don’t have any pretty plants! I love my freshwater plants.
To say that salt water is better is to be ignorant of the joys of general fish keeping.
Neither is better, and both are greatly rewarding.
yeah salt water aquariums require weekly maintenence plus when you purchas coral occasional a crab is in it that can destroy your smaller fish they look nicer but are much harder to maintain
From what I have heard and done research on, unless you have ALOT of time and money rather stick with freshwater ; )
unless off course you live right on the beach and can carry fresh seawater over to your tank everyday, a friend of mine did it.. worked well… but its tedious
im not sure but i have a fresh tropical fish tank i i think it would be easier because you just get the water from the sink and add treatment where as with the salt water one you will need to add salt. Its up to you really fresh water would be easier but it depends on which type of fish u like.
please please do research before setting it up. it costs alot of money to start one up. try going to a petstore and checking everything out for salt water.
Salt water tanks are better, and prettier.
But they require more work and cost a lot more, so it is up to you but make sure you do you research and no what you are getting into.
GOOD LUCK

It is more work and way more expensive, but worth every dollar and every minute.
